Warm and mild Palo Santo scent with a sweet note

Essential Palo Santo oil from Bursera graveolens originates from Peru and is extracted by steam distillation from the wood. Palo Santo belongs to the same botanical family as frankincense and is primarily found in South America.

Palo Santo literally means “holy wood” and, just like white sage, originates from indigenous peoples in South America. For several centuries, it was used during ceremonies to cleanse the aura and is said to have been used to handle negative influences.

Palo Santo is described as a spiritual oil and was traditionally used by the Inca people to cleanse and clear the spirit of negative energies.

The scent can be described as warm, woody, and slightly aromatic with a sweet note that sometimes emerges. Compared to white sage, which is also used for the same purpose, Palo Santo emits a very mild scent.
