Floral neroli scent with a soft note of bergamot

Neroli oil from the flowers of the bitter orange tree, Citrus aurantium var. amara, also known as Neroli bigarade. The oil has a scent similar to bergamot. The flowers are picked by hand and the oil is produced through water distillation because the flowers are too delicate for steam distillation. The product is diluted to 5% in grapeseed oil.

Neroli oil is a valued essential oil due to its wonderful scent and its traditionally described properties. It is associated with a very calming character.

A few drops can be warmed in an aroma lamp in a room for relaxation.

Neroli oil is believed to have been used by the Romans. In 1680, Anna Maria Orsini, Princess of Nerola, used the essence from the bitter orange tree to perfume her gloves and her bath, thereby creating a new fashionable scent. From this time on, the essential oil became known as neroli after her. Folklore tells that orange blossoms were used to decorate bridal beds to help newlyweds relax. The oil is expensive to produce and great care is taken during the harvest because the flowers must be picked just as they bloom.
