Floral geranium scent with fresh hints of mint and apple

Essential geranium oil is steam-distilled from the leaves and stems of the Pelargonium odoratissimum plant, also known as apple geranium. It has a strong scent with a floral aroma and notes of mint and apple.

Geranium oil is associated with the ability to balance and uplift, both for the mind and body. It is said to contribute to a sense of balance and well-being.

Essential geranium oil is associated with balancing skincare for oily and dry skin, as well as with calming properties for stress and anxiety.

These geraniums were believed to keep spirits away, just as they kept mosquitoes away, and were therefore planted as hedges around houses. The plants originated in South Africa, Réunion, Madagascar, Egypt, and Morocco, and were introduced to European countries in the 17th century. Although there are about 700 varieties of the plant, only 10 produce essential oil in usable quantities. The varieties planted in gardens usually produce too little oil to be used for extraction.
