Fragrance Oil - Ceylon Cinnamon 10ml

Warm and spicy scent of Ceylon cinnamon

Essential cinnamon oil is extracted through steam distillation from the tree Cinnamomum zeylanicum, also known as Ceylon cinnamon or true cinnamon. There are two types of essential oils extracted: one from the leaves, which is milder, yellow to light brown, and most commonly used in aromatherapy, and the other from the bark, which is darker brown and not typically preferred for aromatherapy.

Cinnamon oil is described as soothing and possessing antiseptic properties. In aromatic routines, it is used in oil burners and body care blends for its warm, spicy character.

The cinnamon tree originates from the Indian subcontinent and has been an important trade commodity for centuries between India, China, and Egypt. For a long time, the origin of cinnamon was a mystery to the Western world. According to Herodotus and other writers, Arabia was the origin of cinnamon. The story goes that giant cinnamon birds gathered cinnamon sticks for their nests from a mysterious place where cinnamon trees grew. The Arabs then tricked the birds and obtained the cinnamon from them. This was the prevailing belief until 1310 in Byzantium.

Avoid leaf oil during pregnancy. Bark oil is very potent and should only be used diluted under expert supervision. Always use essential oils according to current safety guidelines.
