Warm and sandalwood-like amyris scent

Essential amyris oil from Amyris Balsamifera originates in Jamaica and is extracted through steam distillation from the wood and branches. The scent is reminiscent of sandalwood, which has given the oil the name West Indian sandalwood oil.

Amyris balsamifera has traditionally been called candle wood because the wood has a high oil content and can burn like a candle. Amyris oil is a more affordable alternative to true sandalwood. The tree grows wild in Haiti.

When used in an aroma diffuser, amyris oil is associated with a calming and relaxing feeling in connection with anxiety, tension, and sleep. The scent has also traditionally been used in meditation and in contexts relating to sensuality and intimacy.

Amyris oil is also associated with softening properties and a relaxing sensation for the muscles.
