Essential mandarin oil from Citrus Reticulata originates in Argentina and is extracted by cold pressing from fruit peels. Mandarin petit grain oil is also produced in smaller quantities by steam distilling the leaves and twigs.

The oil is golden yellow to orange and has a fresh scent reminiscent of fresh orange. The collective term mandarins includes several citrus fruits, including satsuma, clementine, Dancy, Honey, Pixie, and tangerines.

Mandarin oil is described as mild and is traditionally associated with use for children and pregnant women. It has also traditionally been used in contexts related to digestion, the stomach, and the liver, as well as for oily skin, acne, and blemishes.

A few drops in the bath have traditionally been used for a calming bathing experience. In aromatherapy, mandarin oil is associated with an uplifting, soothing, and harmonious feeling.

Mandarins have historically been offered as gifts to mandarins in China. In France, mandarin has traditionally been associated with use for digestive issues in children and the elderly, as well as for supporting the digestive system and the liver.
