Warm and spicy fragrance oil from the Ceylon cinnamon tree

Cinnamon fragrance oil is extracted through steam distillation from Cinnamomum Zeylanicum, also known as Ceylon cinnamon or true cinnamon. There are two types of essential oil: one from the leaves, which is milder, yellowish to light brown, and most common in aromatherapy, and one from the bark, which is darker brown and more rarely used in aromatherapy.

Cinnamon fragrance oil is known for its calming properties and is appreciated in aromatherapy for its warm, spicy scent profile. It is used in oil burners, bath water, and massage oil.

The cinnamon tree is originally from the Indian subcontinent and has for centuries been an important trade commodity between India, China, and Egypt. The origin of cinnamon was long a mystery to the Western world. Legend tells that giant cinnamon birds collected cinnamon twigs for their nests from a mysterious place where cinnamon trees grew. The Arabs then tricked the birds and obtained the cinnamon from them. This was the prevailing belief until the year 1310 in Byzantium.

The leaf oil should be avoided during pregnancy. The bark oil is very strong and should only be used diluted under expert supervision. Always use in diluted form.
